Blogging is one of the most efficient ways to increase your website rankings on search sites like Google and Yahoo. Blogging refers to posting your website links to blog sites in order to increase your website rankings. Blogging work best for the SEO as it is the one of the most effective tools to make your website popular amongst the people. If your website is more famous it will generate more revenues as more and more people will visit your site.

You can follow these simple rules for SEO and your blog will definitely rank much higher in search engines. You should use your primary keyword most often in your blogs. The URL that you post on the blogs should contain a primary keyword to optimize your website. You can also use the main keyword in sub domains to get better results. In case your website is about automotive parts then you can use the keywords "Automotive Parts" in your website. Also it is necessary to use your main keyword in the title of your posts and the titles of your web pages. Also use the main keywords and key phrases in your H1 and H2 headers to make them more searchable.

Next you can use your secondary keywords in the body of your post in the blog. The more times the keywords are found in the webpage or post, the better are the chances of the search engines will be able to pick up the keywords. However it should not look like spam. You should refrain from posting the same keywords again and again in the same post as then Google will ban your site for some time and your rankings will fall drastically.

You should also use your primary and secondary as much as possible in the anchor texts for linking the text to other blog sites or other blog posts. Also make every effort to make your site easier for search engine to track. Also it is very much necessary to make your navigation bar of the whole website on every page of the website. All your previous posts should be linked to all pages so that they can be easily searchable by search engines.

You should also create back links to your website on as many blogs as possible. This is because it will help a lot in getting the rank of your website higher in the search engine pages. The more links you have created the higher will be the rank of your website on search engines. You can get back links to your website is to submit your blog and RSS feeds to as many blog search engines and blog directories as possible. Exchange your links with other blogs and network with as many people as possible on the blogs. If you find any interesting information on a blog then don't forget to link it. The track back will become a link to your blog after some time. In the end to optimize search engine results for your website you should update your blog frequently.

Private Label Articles - Get More Useful Content At Low Cost and Effort

Private label rights (PLR) are one of the hottest things in Internet marketing today. Everybody wants to know what they are and, more importantly, what benefits they can get out of them.

In essence, PLR is a kind of license you acquire for material, which allows you to change and edit existing material and call it your own. Without having to do a lot of work, you could be credited as the author of the material and not have to worry about any violations in copyright.

Not a lot of people know about the PLR articles, much less why they should pay attention to them. Give yourself the edge and find out why you should know all you can about PLR and how you can profit from them in the most efficient and effective way possible.

1. Saves time and effort.
You probably already know how much work and time it will take to write an article. On average, a single 700-word article will take about two hours to compose from scratch. If your intention is to create a website with over 50 pages, then you can see how daunting and time-consuming the task of simply writing content will be. PLR articles will save you this time and effort.

2. All credit goes to you.
You are under no obligation to credit the original author for PLR articles. As such, when you publish them on your website, no outbound links and advertisements will be there to distract your visitor / customer. All links will be focused on your brand and your affiliates.

3. Saves you money.
This point requires a different point from saving time and effort simply because of economics. Hiring writers to create content for your website averages about $15 per article. If your site were to hold even just 20 articles that you need to update regularly (say every two weeks), you'd see how the bill could add up.

But if you were to acquire PLR for a set of articles, you could save money because of the economics of scale. Articles are bought at bulk and as such it is possible to get your hands on 200 articles for only less than $30.

4. Editorial freedom.
You don't like how the article is written or the information it is presenting? PLR allows you to change the material right away without needing to ask permission from the writer.
This is also especially useful for optimizing your website for search engines since you can enrich the content with keyword phrases to improve your rankings in SERPs.

5. Create a brand for yourself.
Today, it's all about distinguishing yourself from the rest. PLR articles allow you to provide content that is both relevant and updated. By doing so you build a reputation with your target audience as an expert. And since people would much rather go with someone they trust, your chances of return visitors increases significantly.

6. Get professional results.
Many of the writers who offer articles with PLR are professionals and have access to the latest information regarding your field of interest. By acquiring the rights from them, you avail yourself of their professional results without having to retain their services regularly.

With one set of PLR articles and some creativity on your part, you can extend the life of the articles to the point where the content has more than paid for itself. So when sourcing out a supplier for PLR articles, ask for sample works to demonstrate the quality of articles you would be purchasing.

Now that you know why you should seriously consider getting PLR articles, here are some ways to get you started on profiting from them.

1. Compile a list or report.
You can consolidate a series of articles of a similar theme and package them as a report or listing of information. While you may think that anyone can do this, you'd be surprised how little of this is done.

Many people don't have the time to read or the willingness to read several articles at different times. Providing them a simplified version of the information they want will be a welcome offer for your visitors. You can either give away the report for free, sell it as your own product or use it as content on your website.

2. Use PLR content to create a series of small articles
This is especially useful when producing material for an email campaign. A series is by far, one of the more effective ways to create a following with your audience.

Give enough to allow them a feel for what you're offering and hint at giving more of the same if they will subscribe to your mailing list. In turn, your emails promote your website by inviting them to visit you on a more regular basis.

3. Produce ebooks.
It is very possible for you to take a set of PLR articles and come up with an ebook, for which you can credit yourself as the author.

Since you have created an entirely new product you could repackage this and sell this with your own resale rights. Just like you, there are people who are looking for material they can use for their own promotion needs so cater to this market as they are increasingly growing in number.

As you can see, using PLR articles are not only effective in providing truly useful content. They are also cost and labor-efficient, which means you can focus more of your time to more important matters, whether they are for business or otherwise.

Article Body:
Adsense has several products under its belt and some are obviously more popular than others. Web publishers have been discussing and comparing adsense products such as referrals and contextual advertising in popular forums such as Digitalpoint. Apparently, referral products and even Google search does not appear as popular as contextual ads. Why is that so?

Publishers only benefit from contextual advertising when visitors click on the ads on the web page. In many instances, in order to achieve that, ads are optimized to blend in nicely with the look and feel of the web pages. When done right, these ads look like relevant links on the site and if visitors are interested in what is being advertised, they will click on the ads. Contextual ads are simple to implement and ads will show on the site within minutes of copying and pasting some simple Javascript code.

In contrast, it is not easy to generate the same amount of revenue using other adsense products such as Google search and referrals. Like contextual ads, implementing Google search involves copying and pasting some code. However, unlike contextual ads, publishers do not benefit when searches are
being made. Each search returns a set of relevant results and if there are ads for those keywords, they will appear as sponsored results at the top of the page. The publisher only earns when the visitor clicks on one of those sponsored ads. So let's recap. The visitor has to key in some keywords, click on the search submit button, wait for the results to load, and IF he or she clicks on an ad, the publisher earns some money. Compare that to contextual ads, where the visitor simply have to make a simple click and the money is credited to the publisher's account.

It is even more difficult to convert visitors to revenue using Adsense referral products, although each conversion generally pays more. For example, refer a publisher to the Google Adsense program and if the publisher makes $100 within 180 days, another $100 will be credited to the publisher who sent the referral. That means the visitor has to visit a site, somehow locate the Adsense referral button, click on it, read more about the program, sign up and wait for approval. Upon approval, the publisher will have to implement the products and make $100 within 180 days. If not, whoever sent
the referral to the adsense program makes nothing.

Here's another example. The Adsense program pays a referral fee if a visitor clicks on a button or link, download and successfully install the Firefox browser. The publisher's job, will then be trying to convince the visitor that Firefox is good for him or her, and send the visitor to the download page. If the visitor downloads the 5.33MB file and successfully install the browser, the publisher gets up to a dollar. Needless to say, it is indeed much tougher for the publisher to earn that dollar, compared to contextual ads.

So where does that leave publishers? Publishers want to promote the Firefox browser but what if they don't have any software/webmaster related sites that will convert nicely? So let's say a publisher have a site about dogs. He or she could put a download link on the site that says "We recommend searching more about dogs using the Google toolbar". The publisher don't get paid for the download but when the installer uses the toolbar to make a search and click on an ad, the account gets credited with money. The concept behind it is similar to Google search, just that it's on a toolbar. Google could come up with a web-based control panel (likely within adsense login) for publishers to generate the download. In the market, there are already web-based control panel tools that allows users to customize and generate brandable toolbars for download. Therefore, this idea could definitely become a profitable possibility for publishers and would be a dream come true for many!

Still, there remains one small nagging problem. Implementing such a product will mean that Google will have to share search revenues with publishers. Of the reported $1.098 billion dollars generated from Google owned sites in the final quarter of 2005, how much is Google willing to share?

Steps to an Effective Online Business

Steps to an Effective Online Business

Summary:
6 Steps to an Effective Online Business---Foundational Steps to Build a Strong Long-Term Business Online

Keywords:
online business

Article Body:
Creating and running an effective online business is realistically comprised of several hundred, rather than 6, but this will serve as a guide for the direction of your efforts.  Contrary to what you may hear rampantly on the Internet, there is no cookie-cutter, get-rich quick scheme on the web.  Not only is every online business different, what works for one person or in one month may not work for another person or in the next month.

The Internet is constantly changing, and the online market is inherently different this year than it was last year.  New technological improvements occur monthly, and impact the online business environment.  What works for one individual when he is the first to sell a certain product a certain way may not work just six months later when he has sold his idea to 40,000 other marketers, and they all begin to promote it.  Traffic generation tactics are significantly different than they were just a year ago, and hardly resemble profitable strategies three years ago.

These 6 Steps are simply the bare-bones skeleton of what has to happen for your online business to be successful.  They are foundational, and although the implementation strategies are different today than several years ago, the basic steps remain the same.

1. Develop or discover a product.  You must find a product that meets today's needs.  A 5 year old product whose resell rights you can buy for a dollar or get for free probably won't meet the needs of today's consumers.  You must be willing to pay for the rights to sell a current , useful product, or become an affiliate marketer, where you promote a popular product, and in exchange are paid a percentage of the income from the sale.

2. Determine how the potential customers can view your product and see a sales presentation.  If you develop your own product or purchase the rights to sell someone else's, you will need a website.  A few tips here: Rather than accept free web hosting, purchase your own domain name and pay to have your domain name and web site hosted by a professional web hosting company with a reputable history.  If your free web hosting company goes bankrupt, they generally take your fledgling business with them.

3. Once you have your web site up and running, unless you are using an affiliate program that supplies a sales page, you must develop a sales script and web copy.  Aside from your web hosting decision, this is probably the most important thing you can do.  You may be tempted at first to write a sales pitch on your own, but unless you already have a lot of experience in the offline market writing effective sales letters, you need to, absolutely must, invest in a few courses on web copywriting.  Be willing to spend some money upfront on learning this skill.  Too many marketers try to wing it in this area and after a few months of losing money online, finally break down and purchase the knowledge to write a good sales pitch.  Do it the other way around—buy the knowledge first, and start making sales from the beginning.  Customers will not buy just because you have a web site---they buy from the web site that does the best job of convincing them it has the best product for their need.

4. You must develop a traffic source that works.  When you first begin, you may be on a shoestring, and that is OK.  Assuming you have been willing to spend some money on sales letter writing and a decent web host, you may be able to skimp in the traffic arena for awhile, if you have plenty of time.  If you do not have money to advertise, nor time to seek out low cost advertising, you probably shouldn't be attempting an online business.  If you do choose to go the low-cost route—know two things up front—the returns are really low and you will spend vast amounts of time on traffic generation.  Once you begin to make sales, you must invest your income in paid forms of traffic generation.  If you do not, you will run out of enthusiasm for generating the free traffic, and without reinvesting the income from your first sales into advertising, you are sure to fail.  Good sources of low-cost, but time consuming traffic are: writing articles and posting them to article directories, low cost classified ads, and ezine ads.  You may see hyped-up ads for thousands or visitors for a low cost or millions of banner ads for another reasonable price—both of these methods may have worked 2 years ago, but they are a sure waste today.

5. Once you begin to get traffic to your online business site, you must keep detailed records of where the traffic comes from, and what percentage of visitors from each source are purchasing your product.  If you have visitors that cost you $50 per hundred to come to your web site, but on average they only purchase $25 per hundred visitors, the income may feel good, but you are not profitable, and are losing money.  By tracking your expenses on each type of visitor and by tracking your revenue on the same sources of visitors, you can determine which campaigns need changes or need to be eliminated and which need to be increased in intensity.

6. By following this pattern of steps, and by keeping diligent records (there is plenty of good web site tracking software on the market that can help you do that), you can develop a profitable online business.  Again, it will not happen overnight, and you will not get rich quick.  However, if you build a solid online business with a solid foundation, and are willing to spend some money learning how to do it right, you really can become successful in business online.

Building Your Home Business While Working for Someone Else

Summary:
Starting a home business while still employed can be intimidating at times.  A busy work schedule and home life along with the pressures of starting a business are enough to raise anyone's blood pressure.  It can be accomplished, however, with a little patience, clear home business goals and a fresh cup of coffee.

Article Body:
Starting a home business while still employed can be intimidating at times.  A busy work schedule and home life along with the pressures of starting a business are enough to raise anyone's blood pressure.  It can be accomplished, however, with a little patience, clear home business goals and a fresh cup of coffee.

The point of having a home business is that you're working towards "something."  Whether you'd like to earn extra income to pay off debt, pay for future bills like college for the kids or become financially independent and quit your regular job, you obviously have some goals in mind.  These goals are the driving force behind your business.  Even when you're tired and feel overwhelmed with tasks, your goals can keep you motivated.

Write your goals down and keep them in a visible location.  You might want to hang them on the refrigerator, your computer or even on the bathroom mirror.  Place them where you're likely to see your goals on a daily basis.

Keeping your goals in mind will motivate you to work hard on those nights when you'd rather be sleeping.

Set a steady, but realistic work schedule for your home business.  Plan specific times for marketing, financial assessments, website design adjustments and home office organization.  For example, you might spend fifteen minutes per day marketing your online business.  This doesn't seem like a whole lot, but you'd be amazed at the results of doing this steadily.  When you're limited in time, you can't afford to waste a moment.  That's why a schedule is so important.

Being realistic with your schedule is also crucial. Don't work yourself into a coma.  Plan your home business schedule while considering other aspects of your life.  You don't want to neglect your family or your primary source of income.  If you can only work on your business five hours per week, then put forth your best effort during those five hours to make the most of it.

One benefit of keeping your full-time job while building your home business is that you have a steady flow of funds.  You'll be able to put more money back into your business when you're not depending on every dime to pay your bills.  Even if you plan to eventually quit your regular job, your business can tremendously benefit from it while you do both.

If you find it difficult to work on your business at a steady pace, hiring others to help out on a part-time basis might be an option.  Your spouse or an older child might be thrilled to help grow the business, or you might need to hire an outsider to do a few daily tasks.  It really depends on your cash flow, business schedule and the demands of the business.  Some home businesses are more demanding than others.

Although it can be stressful at times, you can successfully operate a home business while employed elsewhere.  Follow these tips for home business success.

If you are contending in these very competitive business, you should always be a step ahead of your competition, increasing your traffic flow should have been done starting yesterday.

Timing is essential, that's an old adage known to everyone. But with generating traffic, you should always be on your toes and be a day ahead of everyone. Never think of today and tomorrow as a starting point for making your site traffic laden, it should always have been yesterday.

To help you out in generating more traffic for your site, here are some seven surefire ways to increase your traffic starting from yesterday.

1) Invest in good advertising with search engines

Google's Adwords and Yahoo's Overture provide great advertising schemes that are very truly popular and assures great traffic. Although with this surefire way to increase your traffic would cost some money. While some would shy away from spending money to increase traffic, it is imperative in this case to do so because Adwords and Overture is the top surefire way to increase your traffic.

You could see for yourself the success this search engine advertising methods have reaped rewards for so many companies. Lots of site feature these advertising system and many have signed on to reap the benefits. Do not be left behind. Every penny is worth it with using Google and Yahoo's advertising.

2) Exchange or Trade Links with other sites

With exchanging links with other sites, both of you will benefit from the efforts both of you do to enhance your sites traffic. When one site features another sites link, they could provide one another with the traffic one site generates. The efforts are doubly beneficial because it would seem like both of you are working to generate more traffic. The more links traded with more sites the more traffic could be expected.

3) Use Viral Marketing

Viral marketing allows you to spread the word about your company and product without any costs or if ever low costs only. This is a marketing method that can be quite sneaky; you can attach your company's name, product or link to a certain media such as a funny video, entertaining game, an interesting article or a gossip or buzz. With this method, people get infected with the creativity and entertainment of the medium that they will pass it on to many people.

4) Search and use proper keywords or keyword phrases for your sites content

Search engines look for certain keywords that they would show in their results page. In doing so, having the right keyword and keyword phrase is a high requirement in ranking in high in search engine results. You could write your own content or you could hire someone to do it for you.

5) Write Articles that can lead traffic to your site

Submit articles to sites that would contain the same subject that your site deals in. If you sell car parts write press releases and articles about cars and car parts. Attach your sites description and services at the end of the article as well as the link.

6) Join forums and form online communities

Capture a market and show your expertise and credibility. When you found a good foundation for your site, people will trust you and your site and will pass on to many people their trust. Traffic will certainly increase because they know that you can provide what they need.

7) Lastly, Offer newsletters.

If many people know what you are about and your existence is shared with many others, you will find a loyal traffic that can provide you with more traffic by recommendation. If you arouse the curiosity of your customers they would be pushed to help you with your traffic.

The fact is, even if your web site is full of fabulous sales copy and photos that illustrate all the great features and benefits of your product or service, your potential customers still need to know:

What do people who have actually purchased and used your product or service think about it? It's simple: your readers know that YOU believe in your product, or you wouldn't be selling it! But what do people with the same problem or need that they have say about your product?

Answering that question is one of the most fundamental tasks your web site needs to accomplish -- and it's as simple to do as it is important.

By using testimonials -- reviews and comments from your satisfied customers, in text, audio, or video format -- on your web site, you not only answer the question, you also transform your sales pitch into a credible, unbiased recommendation for your product.

1) Overcome buyer skepticism with a glowing testimonial

As I said before, adding testimonials is probably one of the easiest ways to improve your web site -- but a good one can generate more selling power than some of the best salescopy out there!

So why are testimonials so effective?

Testimonials build trust: Whether your customers are raving about what your product has done for them or about the great service you gave, they are telling your visitors first and foremost that they had a positive experience with your products and company. Testimonials aren't "salesy": Because testimonials aren't written in your "voice," they stand out in your copy as candid and unbiased accounts of how well your product works. Testimonials overcome skepticism: A good testimonial has the power to convince even your "tough sell" visitors that your product or service really made a difference in your customer's life -- and can help them, too. For example, let's say that you're selling a special lotion designed for dry skin. A visitor finds your web site -- a person with dry skin who needs some relief -- and reads all about the amazing moisturizing ingredients in your product and how wonderful it smells.

Those are two good selling points -- things that people would want to know before they decided to buy.

But lots of products can make those promises -- and many of them don't work! So why should they purchase your product ahead of all the rest?

Then, as they look over the page, a testimonial catches their eye from one of your customers, explaining that your lotion quickly healed a lifelong, agonizing skin condition -- something no other product had ever managed to do!

That's the power of an effective testimonial: it can convince your reader that your product DOES work -- and that you can be trusted to deliver on your promises.

2) How to choose the right kind of testimonial to turn your visitors into customers

When you're choosing testimonials, there are a few key ingredients to look for that make the difference between an ineffective testimonial -- and one that sells.

Here's an example of a glowing, but ultimately ineffective testimonial:

"I love this product! I can't get enough! I'm so glad I bought your stuff and I'll be back to get more, for sure!"

What could be wrong with that? It sounds like you have a happy customer on your hands!

But what does this testimonial really tell your visitors? Does it prove that the product works, or explain exactly how your customer benefited from using it? While the feedback is definitely positive, the testimonial does not provide enough detail to have any real impact on your visitors.

Here's an example of the kind of effective, benefits-driven testimonials that we include on our own web sites:

"I used the methods you told me to use and for three days my phone's been ringing! I sold over $3500 in goods and services in three days! It's the first time in 5 months that anyone had really purchased anything..."

Now that's a great testimonial! But what makes it so powerful?

Let's break down the elements of an effective testimonial in more detail...

A good testimonial is filled with benefits: A comment like, "This product is great!" is nice for you to hear, but it doesn't tell visitors what your product can actually do for them. You want the benefits of what you offer to be front and center in every testimonial: "This product doubled our profits in a month!" or "This product made the pain in my back disappear completely -- and did it fast!" or "We've never seen any product that could get the rust off our car without damaging the paint -- until now."

A good testimonial substantiates your claims: If you say your product can do something, your testimonials should back up your promises -- complete with actual facts and figures. How much money did your customers save by using your product? How much time did they save by using your service? How did it solve their problems or improve their lives?

A good testimonial is from someone your audience can relate to: You want your visitors to see that your product helped someone just like them, seeking the solution to the same problem your visitors have. Make sure your testimonials come from someone with whom your target market can identify. If you sell primarily to seniors, for example, ask your customers if you can include their age along with the testimonial. If you are selling to moms with children, ask if you can mention how many kids they have -- or include a photo of their family!

A good testimonial is credible: Accompany each testimonial with the first name, last name, and hometown of each testimonial-giver to show that your endorsements come from real people. Always try to include a photo as well. And if you can, take it to the next level by including audio or video testimonials for maximum effect! Do anything you can to help your visitors connect with your testimonial-givers on a personal level.

A good testimonial endorses the key benefits of your product: Your testimonials should emphasize the key benefits of your product. It's fun to hear that your super-duper floor cleaner smells nice or that the bottle doesn't drip -- both things that matter to people who would consider using your product in their homes -- but have you established that it cleans their floors well?

A good testimonial is comparative: Did your customers try another product that didn't work before they found yours? You want your visitors to know what your product can do that other products can't. Choose testimonials that set your product apart from your competition!

Now that you know what you're looking for in a testimonial, how do you actually gather the reviews you need from your customers?

3) The secrets to getting great testimonials -- even if you haven't sold a thing yet!

If your customers have given you positive feedback on your product already, then you may already have some great testimonials to add to your site.

However, if your customer response is a little scarce -- or if you're just starting out -- getting testimonials from your buyers might take a little more effort.

So how do you collect the testimonials you need -- and keep them coming as you grow your business?

One easy way to collect testimonials is to include a link on your site with a form that allows your customers to give you their vote of confidence: "Tell us how this product changed your life!" or "Click here to let us know what you think!" Put this link next to some testimonials that you've already gathered to give customers an example of the kind of feedback you're looking for.

A more effective method is to create an autoresponder that contacts your buyers after they've purchased your product -- even a month later -- to ask how they're enjoying the product, as well as giving them a chance to offer feedback on their experience with your business.

And, of course, any time you receive a great letter or e-mail from a customer, ask them if you can use their comments on your web site to recommend your product to others. If they were happy enough to let you know, they're bound to want to spread the word.

If you haven't yet begun selling your product and have no feedback yet, offer your product or service for free to a select group of customers in exchange for their thoughts on the product or some details on their experience with your site.

The impact that testimonial will have on your bottom line will be well worth the initial expense! As soon as your online business is up and running, make a point of giving every one of your customers a chance to share their experiences with your product or service. Ask for feedback -- good and bad -- in your autoresponders, your newsletters, and other spots on your web site.

4) Strategies for using your testimonials as effectively as possible

Once you've got some testimonials to share with your visitors, you need to make sure that you're putting them to the best possible use on your site.

Always make sure that you...

Include your best testimonials front and center on your homepage, like in your sidebars, or even above your headline. Place some testimonials right in the middle of your homepage salescopy to keep your readers focused on your credibility as you outline the features and benefits of your product. Set up a whole page dedicated to your glowing testimonials, as well as including snippets of their comments throughout your site. Be sure to put a link to your testimonial page next to each of those snippets! Include testimonials on each and every page of your web site. No matter where your visitors click, you want them to find a positive customer review of your product or service.

Now let's look at a few mistakes to avoid when using testimonials on your web site...

Don't edit your testimonials to exclude a comment or add information you want to hear! If you can't post a comment "as is" and feel comfortable with it, it shouldn't go up. If your testimonials are in your voice and all sound the same, no one is going to trust that they are legitimate.Never use a customer testimonial without permission. Never, ever invent testimonials! This is fraud, plain and simple, and lying never results in a positive impact on your business.

Can You Do It By Yourself?

Can You Do It By Yourself?

Word Count:

Summary:
O.K., you know that resale timeshares are a great deal and you want to save even more money by doing the acquisition yourself. What's next?

Keywords:
timeshare, timesharing, timesharingmadness, marketing, internet

Article Body:
This is an attempt to give you some ideas about cautions you should exercise and maybe even some thinking about whether it is such a good idea to take on all these responsibilities yourself. There are some good reasons for having a Licensed Broker or other real estate professional involved. It is not, however an absolute requirement. There may be some people who would take out their own appendix. Now you know where I am coming from and that I am unabashedly biased in terms of involving a professional when it makes sense.

Your friend Joe hasn't been able to use his week at your resort for several years and has decided (correctly) that he should sell it. His price is reasonable and you agree to buy it. Your first step is to make sure Joe owns it. Don't make the mistake of thinking he is such a good guy he wouldn't lie to you. He may be absolutely honest, but we have just had so many cases where people were confused about what they owned, how it worked and what name they had used to acquire it. They may have forgotten that they put it into a trust or believe it really doesn't matter that they did. If the paper work isn't correct you might just as well have a deed to the Brooklyn Bridge. Fortunately, you don't have to accuse Joe of lying to you (chances are he is giving you the best information he has). Just ask to see his documentation. He should be able to produce his Grant, Warranty or Quit Claim Deed, mortgage papers, the CC& R's to the property, the most recent tax bill, the dues bill, etc. In addition, ask him if he has put the title into a trust or otherwise conveyed it elsewhere. The most common problem is that they will add their four kids (so the kids can call for reservations) to the Deed and record it. In most cases that creates a title nightmare all of which must be unraveled. It can also be indicative of more problems if you know what to look for. If not, it is probably time to bring in a professional, as you probably will sooner or later.

Next, call the resort and determine the dues status. It is not uncommon that people have not paid the most recent dues or even several of them. The minute you take title, all those bills Joe didn't pay become yours. Congrat-ulations.

If taxes are collected directly from the timeshare Owner rather than through the Association, next call the Tax Collector for the county where the resort is located. Determine that the taxes have all been paid up to date. Many times this is an automated voice mail system and you can usually get an answer within a half-hour or so. You must have the Assessor's Parcel Number from the tax bill to be able to do this.

How about the status of the exchange? Does he have weeks banked? Who is going to pay for the exchange fees? Does Joe want to give you the remaining Exchange Company membership or do you want to buy it? The Exchange Companies will not divulge Member information unless you pose as the Member and give them your Member Number. Hopefully this is part of the information you got from Joe.

Are you going to use an escrow?  How about Title Insurance? Who is going to pay for these? In Southern California the Seller normally pays for the Title Insurance, but in Northern California the Buyer normally pays. These customs vary from state to state and even within a state. What is normal where you live? Should you even bother with Title Insurance?  As a broker we won't sell a property without it, but if you were only paying $500 for the timeshare title insurance would not be worth it. You are better off just self-insuring and if you lose, you didn't lose much.

If a loan is required by the Buyer to satisfy the cash demanded by the Seller it must be obtained. There are lenders specializing in timeshare re-sale financing. Another alternate is that the Seller may be willing to take back a note as part of the purchase price. These need to be correctly drafted within the laws of the county and state where the property is located. Now what steps are required to protect the Seller against non-payment by the Buyer? All this gets pretty involved and is probably best accomplished by an escrow, para-legal, attorney, real estate broker or other professional. There are many pitfalls to doing these things yourself and then having them go wrong, the least of which is that you could be sued for more than the purchase price.

Assuming you still want to keep trying to take out your own appendix or that you simply can't find a reputable broker who handles that property, your next step will be to order the TimeSharing Today Document Kit. Although it is generalized to cover all states (and probably beyond) it provides an effective checklist of issues which should be covered. It also provides adequate documentation to start the process. Also contained is a generous supply of forms and letters that may be used. It will guide you along the lines of what should be considered and provide you a purchase and sale document. Even this Do it Yourself kit recommends that you hire some professional help at this point whether it be a real estate broker, an attorney, a title agent or an escrow agent to handle the intricacies of closing. This is similar to doing your own tax return. Are you really taking all the deductions to which you are entitled? Are you setting yourself up for an audit?  Good professionals usually pay for themselves. We all recommend that you do not handle the whole thing yourself. Too much specialized knowledge is required.

Now that you have done your homework, if you decided to forego escrow and title insurance, your next step will be draw a deed, get it signed and notarized by the Seller and swap the deed to the timeshare for a check for the money you agreed to pay. If the deed is incorrectly drawn or the check is no good, one or both parties may be out in the cold. As you can see, the licensed broker or professional does earn his or her fee.

After you have closed the deal, there is still much to be accomplished. The resort must be notified. In most cases the resort Management Company will charge a fee to make the changes in their records resulting from the transfer. The same is true of the Tax Collector and exchange companies.

Let's say you have now decided against doing it yourself and plan to hire a broker. Here are the rules:

As a Seller, never ever pay a front, listing, appraisal or any other advance fee. As has been discussed here many times, this is almost always a clear signal of an impending rip-off. Check out the proposed professional. Are they licensed in the state where the property is located? Are they with the Better Business Bureau? Does the resort know of them? Can they give you referrals? What do the referrals say?

As a Buyer, insist on getting someone that really knows what they are doing involved in the details. Do the same checking on them that is recommended above for the Seller. You are better off bringing in this person relatively early in the process. (Say right after you have agreed on what the transaction should be). Discuss professional fees beforehand. Realize that if you choose to go without any professional help at all you may have saved money on the appendix operation, but the patient died.

Secrets to Turn Any Business Into a Successful Web Business - Part 3

Secrets to Turn Any Business Into a Successful Web Business - Part 3

Summary:
Lynn VanDyke delivers part 3 of 4 in this article series devoted to those looking to beef up their online business success.

Keywords:
Pre-sell, Online Business Success, Internet Business How To, , PreSell, PReSelling, CTPM, Process

Article Body:

There are a few secrets that I'd like to share with you. You may have been privy to a few of them before. Actually you may have heard of all 4, but I can promise that you will finish each article with a fresh perspective. I will show you how 4 simple secrets can create a powerhouse web business. This is the third part of the 4 article series.

Before I divulge the vault of successful web business secrets I must warn you of one thing. All the information in the world will not take the place of determination and persistence. A web business is just like an offline business. It takes hard work and resolve to succeed. However working smart is heads and tails better than plain old working. These 4 secrets will turn any smart working, dedicated average Joe or Jane into a successful web business owner.

Web Success Secret #3) Pre-selling is far more effective than selling.

The first two parts of this series were geared towards both the search engines and your visitors.  This article focuses directly on your visitor- more specifically your relationship with your visitor.  You must gently and effectively pre-sell your visitor on your goods or services.

Anyone can sell a product or service online.  All it takes is a link to a payment processor such as Paypal.  The difference between successful online business owners and those wishing to make a buck is in their 'voice'.  A website has a voice.  The look and feel of your website gives your visitor an impression.  When your visitor reads your words they should know the persona of your business and think of you as an expert.

These words, or content, should provide tons of information in small, bite-sized chunks of text.  No one likes to read 8 pages of content on a website.   On the flip side, no one likes to buy a product without knowing more about it.  You need to find the perfect balance between no information and providing too much.

Generally speaking, 400-800 words can do the trick.  It can provide content, position you as the expert and gently pre-sell your visitor on a product or service.

In addition to how much content you provide you should focus on providing specific answers to your customer's problems or concerns.  Most visitors are on your website because they want answers.  They are not surfing your site to buy something.  They want answers.  So give them answers!

It's how you provide your answers that matters.  There is a difference between selling and pre-selling, and how you provide the answers or information your visitor wants is that difference.

Selling is cold, distant and forceful.  Pre-selling is the opposite.  Pre-selling can be thought of as a recommendation or side note to all the great content you provide.  You want your website voice to develop trust and rapport with your visitor.  During that time you are positioned as an expert.  Any soft recommendation that you make will be considered by your visitor.

Forceful selling causes people to put up their defenses.  It causes them to take a step back and wonder what your motives are.  Pre-selling does not affect people this way.  Pre-selling should lead those that are interested to your product without hesitation and those that are not interested should be led to more general content on your website- that will again attempt to gently pre-sell them.

Pre-selling and content (part 1 of this series) are closely related.  You must provide information to your site visitors.  You must be viewed as the expert and as a helpful friend making a recommendation.  People will not feel sold by that.  People will respect that you are providing answers to their problems and making a recommendation for a product that can provide even more helpful info.  It's seen as a favor instead of a hard sell.

As I mentioned earlier, it is best to work smarter and not harder.  If you would like additional guidance on how to effectively pre-sell on the Internet, contact me for a free ebook.

Having a successful web business starts with effective content. Stay tuned for part 4! If you missed Part 1 or 2 and would like a complimentary copy please contact me and I will forward it to you immediately.

So what is blogging really all about? First off, let me tell you that it's a lucrative business to blog and that blogs are easy to set up and manage. Imagine getting paid to write about subjects that interest you, whenever you want, wherever you are! The flexibility involved allows you to maintain your blog at your own pace, and with Internet cafés easily accessible all over the globe, even your vacation won't get in the way of your blogging... Or should I say: even your blogging won't get in the way of your vacation?

In this article, let's take a look at the profitability of a blog and set up one of our own, free of charge! Interested? Read on!

First, you need to get yourself a blog. There are several options – host a blog on your own domain or get a free one. For starters, let's talk about the free blogs. You can obtain one at http://www.blogger.com or the newer (and better!) http://www.wordpress.com. WordPress is a free blog engine that is robust and infinitely expandable.

Blogger is actually owned by Google, so it will be detected by Google's radar faster and you will be indexed more quickly. WordPress.com, however, is a relatively new option so I have no comparison on the speed of getting indexed by search engines. However, WordPress is better in the sense that it has more advanced features such as Trackbacks and Categories. You can also manage your sidebar links more efficiently (more about this later).

Get a free blog at either Blogger or WordPress. Then, familiarize yourself by publishing your first post on your blog and tinkering around with the options and templates.

Here are some words to start expanding your blogging vocabulary:

Permalink – Permalink stands for permanent link, which is a URL (Uniform Resource Locator) that leads to an individual post that you make in your blog.

Trackback – When you post about someone else's blog post elsewhere, your post will show up in their "trackback" section. This feature, however, is not available with a Blogger account.

Pinging – Blogging seems to be paired with pinging almost every time either one is mentioned nowadays. Pinging is actually the action where a certain aggregator is notified whenever your blog is updated, so that the aggregator may show the newest post of your blog on their website. This is a useful way to gain traffic, which I'll discuss in a future article.

Content

Next, let's look at the type of content that's suitable for your blog in order to make it profitable. You need to understand that there is no fixed scope that your blog should have, which means you can write about whatever you're interested in. Mind you, the difference between a profitable blog and a non-profitable one is the way you write. What would you prefer: reading your university professor's lecture notes or the latest novel by your favorite author? People prefer to read "light" items most of the time. When they check out your blog, they are not only looking for information, but they are also looking for information that they can access easily.

So, to attract more visitors as well as to keep your current readers coming back for more, it's very important to add a personal touch to your blog posts. This can be done by simply imagining that you're talking with your personal friend. An extra bonus for your readers would be a great sense of humor, so try to add funny comments in your articles where relevant.

Another important point is to avoid addressing your reader as a plural unit. Don't write as if you're preparing a speech. Instead, write as if you're having a conversation with a single person, an equal friend, because this will make your reader relate to you more easily.

Besides that, it's also very useful to establish your own personality through your words. We're very curious creatures, so naturally your visitors would want to know as much about you as the information you're offering them.

Having a distinctive personality in your blog will make a world of difference between your blog about gadgets and all the other blogs about gadgets out there. This is a lot like creating your own brand name, where people immediately remember your blog's name when they need information about gadgets, just like how people immediately think of McDonald's for fastfood or Nike for sportswear.

There will be more on the subject of content the next time.

When word gets around about your command of blogging, others who need to know about blogging will start to actively seek you out!

Live chat support, most excellent approach to get in touch with customers

Live chat support, most excellent approach to get in touch with customers

Live chat support is the easiest way to communicate with customers and to keep updated on their overall satisfaction or complaints if any. Article Body:
What is live chat support and how can it benefit customers? Live chat support is the easiest way to communicate with customers and to keep updated on their overall satisfaction or complaints if any. It is just like giving a human touch to the otherwise virtual world. A positive impression is created in the minds of the customer about the services and this feel good factor helps in increasing the sales and thereby customer base. The satisfied customers will definitely act as indirect marketing personal bringing in more traffic to your site.
How can you make the customer use the live support feature? Not all people are ready to chat because of their time constraint. Knowing the customer's mood and trying to offer a very friendly and casual chat is what is needed to keep the customer online.  Great communication skill is needed to keep the conversation going in a very interesting and friendly manner. Basic netiquette and clean mannerism counts a lot when it comes to dealing with angry or irritated customers.
Not all customers might turn up with a smiley, there might be some unsatisfied customer or someone who is very confused. It is the job of the live support personal to patiently listen to the complaint and offer a very satisfying answer. Rude or harsh words can only make things worse which might end up in a customer loss. So every possible threat should be faced and tried to be rectified then and there. Words like, 'I don't know', or 'am not sure' should be avoided at all cost as the customer might turn off without another question.
Always keep yourself informed and politely listen first to what the customer has to say. Then in a very relaxed and polite manner sought out the problem and help them to find the right solutions. When the customer report is not given proper attention then there is high chance of misunderstanding the statement and hence they might be confusion. Do not ever follow the blame game of abusing the customer for a problem. Patiently and very decently point out where and what went wrong.
When to contact the customer for a live chat depends on the utility of the site. If the site deals with any travel or tour related subject the live chat personal can immediately offer his help to find the right travel plan for the customer. In other cases the customer must be given time to browse through the various products or services offered by the site. Due to lack of searching skills or the sites complex design customers might ignore the shopping cart and thus live chat can offer instant and timely help to hold the customer from migrating from the site.
The live chat feature helps the organization to get instant feedback and have direct link to the customer clarifying their doubts on the products then and there and hence higher rate of customer satisfaction and better services are enabled. Thus a dedicated, patient and polite live support helps in redefining and rebuilding a strong customer base thereby increasing the revenue

Article Submission Is Useless...Unless You Know What Your Doing

Article Submission Is Useless...Unless You Know What Your Doing
Word Count:
555
Summary:
Wasting countless hours in article directories?
-Learn how to get your site all over the internet millions of times faster.
-Submitting articles to super concentrated dirctories

Keywords:
article, submission, gambling, web, site, website, traffic

Article Body:
Article Submission is a great way to get traffic to your site, but in some cases, articles are wasted in a directory that have so many articles on so many topics that people looking for a topic just get overwhelmed and look for something else. If you submit your articles to large directories with thousands of other articles about every topic, what is the chance that you article will be viewed? What is the chance that it will be published somewhere else? The truth is that it is not an easy thing to get your article discovered by a website owner and re-published especially if you are not a proffessional writer. The key to making your article submissions more worthwhile is to submit to specialized directories.
You might be thinking that these specific directories are not as good because they do not get as much traffic and they might not. The reality is that they probably get as much traffic or more traffic that is targeted to the specific niche. This way you know that every person that goes to that directory is looking for an article like yours. Broad article directories are great; I only use them when I cannot find a directory for the topic f my article (just like this one).
The idea of submitting articles to specific article directories is revolutionary. This is a way to get your articles published in a place where every single people is looking for an article similar to yours so there is a higher chance of being re-published.  I saw an example of such a directory when I was looking for articles to fill my site about "fishing". What I found was amazing, the site had many features that a regular information/shopping site would have but they also had an additional area where you could submit and republish articles that they posted. I found a countless amount of information and in no time I had a 50-page website within the day and my site had already been spidered by Google by the end of the month after I wrote my own articles for that directory.
These article directories are not easy to find though when you type "article directories" in a search engine. They use different key words. This is a problem because it is hard to know what key words will be found by imputing a key word in a search engine. To find them you have to type in a more specific search phrase. For example, if you are looking for articles for fishing you might want to type in, "fishing article directory". Have you noticed that the companies you do business with are getting nosier?  It seems every time you turn around you are being asked to provide ID or your social security number.  In many cases, these companies are asking just because they can, and often consumers don't know enough to say "no" when providing the information is not warranted.
For example, did you know that it is against Visa/MasterCard regulations for a business to require that you show ID in order to complete a credit card transaction that has been electronically approved?  And, the US government has recently made it illegal to require that you have your social security number printed on your driver's license.
However, there are many cases where providing personal information actually helps to protect your privacy.  Such instances include filling out an application for a loan, an insurance policy, or applying for an ACH or credit card merchant account.  If you've ever seen one of these applications, you've noticed some specific information that is commonly required—your social security number, driver's license number, and even birth date.
With the news stories and consumer alerts about identity theft, you probably prefer to just keep your personal info to yourself.  Why do these parties need to know your personal information?  Here are a few reasons:
1. Written legislation:  The Patriot Act requires certain identifying pieces of information before granting individuals/organizations access to funds.
2. Fraud Protection:  Are you really who you say you are?
3. Financial Risk:  Are you or your business financially solvent, and how do we know that?
So how do you know the company asking for personal information is who it says it is, and that the person you are speaking with or sending information to actually represents the company he says he does?  As a consumer, there are ways to protect yourself.
Almost every organization handling your secure information will have security logos on their websites and also have a page stating the security measures taken.  For example, check out  to see an example of a security page for a merchant processing company.  Be sure to look for pages like this if you are ever unsure about the organization you are submitting your private information to.  If you are unsure about the person you are speaking with, hang up, and use the Internet, telephone book, or Directory Assistance to find the official phone number for the company you are dealing with, and call back directly.  You can also ask for references or look up the business in the Better Business Bureau company directory at
In actuality, by asking for this identifying information, companies are trying to prevent identity theft.  Although it may seem like the next question you might be asked is, "And what's your dog's name?," just remember that, ultimately, it's for the protection of consumers like you that this information is requested and validated.

Control your computer securely and reliably from anywhere in the world no matter how many miles away you are going.
Many travelers set up their desktop computers to accept connections with Remote Desktop program built into latest versions of Windows only to find out in a hard way that they can't control their PC from  where they are. This is a very common problem because of the complexity of modern networks and the Internet itself. Just about anything can prevent you from controlling your desktop remotely: a firewall securing your network, an Internet provider blocking everything except Web pages and images, or any of the numerous reasons that exist in different segments of the Internet. These are all important and valid causes of connection problems, but the number one reason is much simpler and has nothing to do with the complexity of the Internet.
Depending on the ISP, your home PC can get a different IP address every once in a while. This type of addresses is referred as 'dynamic', and is a common practice among practically all ISPs, except if you pay extra for a 'static', thus permanent, IP address. When you have a business, you know very well that your advertising is something you have to focus on to make sure that you are getting as much business as possible. If you are trying to advertise your business, you want to be sure that this is something you can do. One of the best ways that you can advertise is to try to do it without spending too much money, because if you spend more money than you should be spending on advertising, it isn't going to be worth it.

Several way's to advertising
There are several ways that you can advertise inexpensively. The best thing that you can do is to focus on the free advertising that you can get. If you have an online business, this can be even easier, as long as you are willing to take the time to do it. If you can go to chat rooms, blogs, or other interesting places and keep your website or your business name as your signature, even if that is only seen by a few people it is still a free way to advertise. You can also post your name on various threads and in various places that will allow you to post your website.

Find a place for advertising
By large, advertising online is usually very cheap. The key is to find a place online where lots of your customers are going to go. In order to do this, you have to be sure that you know who your demographic is and who is using your business. This might require some work on your part. Once you have identified who the people are that are using your business, you can go to other sites that these people are also going to be using, and you can advertise on these sites, quite easily.

Cheaply advertising
The other way to advertise cheaply is by word of mouth. This might require you to be online for a long time, simply going to sites and talking about your business and how good it is. This is something that requires time and energy, but in the end you will find that it is actually a very inexpensive way to advertise.

Off-line advertising
IF you have the time and money, you can also advertise out in the world, not on the internet. This is something that you can do by way of posters, billboards and flyers and by other methods as well.

Conclusions
The main idea is that you should find out where your customers are going to be, and locate them, whether it is in the real world or whether it is online. Once you have located your customers, you can go ahead and start advertising in ways that they are going to understand, and ways that they are going to be able to take advantage of.

All the best, Jos van Helvoirt

One of the biggest reasons I have found, at least when it comes to my profession, is that being away from home can cause many problems when it comes down to a families happiness.

I am a railroad engineer by trade, and railroad companies do not take days off. They are constantly running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. My basic work week averages 60 paid hours, not including time away waiting for a train to take back home. I have missed many a birthday, holiday, school function, anniversary, and (most important of all) time to bond with my wife and kids.

I remember about 3 years ago now, getting a play by play of my two year old opening presents on Christmas Day via cell phone from my wife because I was taking a train home, making money for "The Man" while "The Man" enjoyed his holiday with his family. This was a day that was especially tough for me, because my son was just getting to the age where he starting to understand what Christmas was all about and wanted to know where dad was.

Now don't get me wrong, I actually like my regular job. I have been wanting to drive trains since I was a little boy, and there are allot of people who would love to be able to do the same thing. It's just that the railroad industry provides a service, and that service is to ship a product to the their customer in a timely fashion. These customers do not really care how it gets there, they just want it there A.S.A.P. So when it comes to accommodating the family structure, the railroad lacks in that respect.

So about a year ago, I had asked myself what I could do to make me and my family really happy? And my answer was Time. Which creates another question, how do I get more Time? For me the answer was my very own Home Based Business that would generate extra income to allow for me to take more time off of work and spend it with my family.

So I started searching the internet for a Home Based Business. There were 1000's of business's on the internet that made some big promises. I even joined some and found out that they were either way to hard to learn or cost hundreds of dollars before you even started seeing results. Then I stumbled upon Stone Evans - Plug-In Profits site. See for yourself:

I was pleasantly surprised with the information provided by Stone, and how easy it would be for me to start earning a descent second income that would allow me to take more time from work and spend it with my family. In fact, there were even people who were able to quit there jobs all together just through his easy to follow 30 Days to success training program, and you don't have to spend a ton of money just to do it either.

So, if you are like me and want to start creating more happiness for you and your family, I suggest taking a minute and visit the website below. You will be glad you did.

If you've got a question about your E-Biz, someone else has probably already asked it. Matthew Hedges, customer support manager for product sourcing experts  author of The Online Research Guide to Picking Products That Sell, answers the six most common product sourcing questions he gets from customers looking to start an E-Biz:
1. Will suppliers care if I'm a new online retailer working from home?
Generally no. Says Hedges, "They want to get their product out to consumers as much as possible, so they're looking to open new accounts."
2. How can I convey to a supplier that I'm a serious professional, not a fly-by-night home business?
• Before you call or email questions to a supplier, read their web site. The answers are often right in front of you. Wasting their time with questions you could have easily found answers to yourself reflects poorly on you.
• When you contact a supplier — get to the point. Wholesale suppliers are busy people. They want to help their retailers but don't have time to chit-chat. So get to the meat of your question as quickly as possible.
• Proofread and spell check your emails. An email full of typos, sentence fragments, and run-ons doesn't convey professionalism.
• Be patient. Just because a supplier doesn't respond to your questions the same day you send them is no reason to get agitated. If they think you're going to be a demanding customer, chances are they won't work with you.
3. I found a supplier I want to work with — what's my first step?
Your first step is to check for an online account setup form and fill it out. Real wholesale suppliers need proof you're a legitimate retailer to give you access to their actual wholesale pricing structure and set you up with an account. You'll need a registered business name and tax ID to work with real wholesalers. Obtaining these documents is easy — just contact your local County Clerks Office.
4. I only want to sell popular name brand items — how do I get a supplier?
You can't afford to limit yourself to selling only brands you recognize. Your research should predicate your product line. Many brands you've never heard of are very popular within certain demographics.
5. Should I be focusing on "hot sellers" like iPods, gaming consoles, designer clothes, and DVDs? Can I drop ship them?
Once everyone knows an item's hot, the market becomes saturated. The demand is there, but the supply is too. Everyone tries to undercut everyone else, and the profit margins get really slim.
Beyond that, the manufacturers of these items set astronomical buying minimums — say $100,000 each contract term. You could mortgage your house to meet the minimum, and your wholesale prices would still be much higher than those of the big chains that get additional discounts for spending millions with suppliers.
Finding a supplier who'll drop ship these items individually is almost impossible. It's cost-prohibitive for them — especially in clothing where the return rates are usually high. And again, your wholesale rate for one item won't let you compete with sellers buying in bulk.
6. There's an item I really want to sell, but I can't find a supplier who'll work with me — what now?
Keep looking. If after you've researched, you still can't find a supplier for that particular item, don't give up altogether — just consider other product options. There are millions of products you can sell. Hedges advises, "You can find items that let you compete, but you have to base your product choices off your market research."

Reasons To Form A Legal Entity: Structuring Your E-biz The Smart Way

Reasons To Form A Legal Entity: Structuring Your E-biz The Smart Way

Like many other E-Biz owners, you may not feel inclined to structure your online business as a legal entity. Maybe you argue that your business is too small or that you only sell on eBay. Or perhaps you feel the process is too expensive. But the real question isn't the size of your business, or how much it's worth. The real question is, how much can you afford to lose?

Personal Asset Protection

When you're operating as a sole proprietor, the law views you and your business as inextricably linked. Explains attorney Patrick O'Neill, CEO of  of the biggest benefits of incorporating or forming an LLC is that your business becomes, in a legal sense, a completely separate entity from you and any other shareholders." So in the unfortunate event that your business is sued, a judgment against your business doesn't extend to your assets, other than those invested in the business. Similarly, your business' creditors can only come after company assets – your house, life savings, and stamp collection remain safely out of reach.

Image Enhancement

Besides putting a virtual firewall around your personal property, you're also strengthening your business' image. This is especially important, because as a small E-Biz owner, you're already at a disadvantage:

• First, as a small, unknown business, you have to work hard to create credibility with your customers. Unlike a well-known chain store, you must convince shoppers that you can consistently provide top-quality products and first-rate customer service.

• Second, when you sell online, you lack a physical storefront where shoppers can walk around and get a sense of the kind of operation you run, and whether they feel comfortable purchasing from you.

Seeing XYZ Business, Inc. goes a lot further towards reassuring potential buyers that you've been verified, than a generic XYZ Business. The same is true for other organizations with which you do business. Wholesale suppliers and loan officers, for example, are more likely to take you seriously. Even the IRS is less apt to audit a home business that's an established formal entity – they believe the odds are much higher that the owner isn't just looking for illegitimate tax deductions.

Tax Flexibility

LLCs and S-corporations were both developed with small businesses in mind, and both eliminate the double taxation of a traditional corporation. A C-corp is taxed on its earning as if it were an actual person. Post-tax profits pass through to shareholders, who must include them in their reported taxable income. For Coca-cola, this might be bearable; but for a small eBay business, double taxation can be a crushing burden. An LLC or an S-corp, on the other hand, allow you to be taxed as a partnership, so you're not paying taxes at entity-level. You're only required to fill out an information return for your business, and the profits and deductions pass through proportionally to the shareholders.

• An LLC is much easier to form than a corporation, and the compliance formalities are less stringent. The operating agreement can be as flexible as you choose to make it.

• An S-corp is basically a small business corporation, or a corporation that's taxed as a partnership. It is generally less adaptable than an LLC in income distribution and imposes greater ownership restrictions.

For the entrepreneur, forming a legal entity presents a tremendous value proposition. "You're taking preventative measures in protecting yourself and proactive measures in creating greater credibility," advises O'Neill. "So you're helping yourself on the front and back ends."
